A small business accountant keeps your books, prepares financial statements, files GST/HST and payroll remittances, and files your corporate (T2) or personal tax return. Apex Accounting handles all of this for Toronto and GTA businesses, so you can focus on running yours.
A bookkeeper records your day-to-day transactions and reconciles your bank and credit card accounts. An accountant uses those records for year-end statements, tax returns and planning. At Apex, every bookkeeping client gets a dedicated bookkeeper, and our accounting team handles year-end and tax.
We work with dental and healthcare practices, technology startups, non-profits, e-commerce sellers and hospitality businesses across Toronto, Scarborough and Brampton.
Yes. We prepare and file T2 corporate returns and year-end financial statements. Your T2 is due 6 months after your fiscal year-end. Any balance owing is usually due 2 months after year-end, or 3 months for eligible CCPCs.

It’s not legally required, but most businesses benefit from one. Corporations must file a T2 return with financial statements every year, and errors with GST/HST, payroll or CRA deadlines can lead to penalties and interest. An accountant keeps you compliant and helps you claim every deduction you’re entitled to.
You must register once your taxable sales go over $30,000 in any four consecutive calendar quarters. Below that, you’re a “small supplier” and can choose to register voluntarily. We can register you and handle your filings.
It depends on your profit, your personal income needs and how much risk you carry. Incorporating can lower your tax through the small business rate and gives you limited liability, but it adds filing costs. We’ll go through the numbers with you before you decide.
Canadian-controlled private corporations (CCPCs) in Ontario pay a combined 12.2% tax (9% federal + 3.2% Ontario) on the first $500,000 of active business income. Income above that is taxed at the general corporate rate of 26.5%.

Small business bookkeeping and accounting in Toronto usually costs a few hundred to a few thousand dollars a month, depending on transaction volume, payroll and tax filings. Apex plans start at $799/month with a fixed monthly fee and no long-term contract.
The main factors are how many transactions you have, how many employees you have, how many bank accounts you use, whether your books need cleanup, and which filings you need (HST, payroll, T2).
Some services are add-ons, such as cleanup, initial setup and certain tax filings. We always quote before any extra work starts.
